Although I did not use pure colors the sky was painted using impressionistic style (dabbing dots of paint on the canvas) with a small round brush. The picture has been in the back of my mind for many years. When I spent some time along the Pacific coast line from Eugene and Portland Oregon through Seattle and Bellingham Washington and on into Canada I saw many scenes such as this one with rocky coast line and splashing waters. The ocean breezes gave this area comfortable temperatures during January and February. As the breezes swept upward over the mountains to the East snow was constant on the distant mountain tops….beautiful to me only because I was far away from it. This painting is 48 X 24 and acrylics were used.
